HC Deb 11 March 1943 vol 387 c850
35. Mr. Harvey

asked the President of the Board of Education which local education authorities have submitted proposals to acquire an especially large site with a view to grouping upon it a number of educational buildings and forming a school base?

Mr. Butler

No local education authority has submitted a proposal to acquire an especially large site with a view to the provision of a school base.

Mr. Harvey

Will my right hon. Friend consult with the Minister of Town and Country Planning with a view to encouraging local authorities to make such proposals?

Mr. Butler

In my answer of 14th February I drew attention to the fact that the local education authority was at liberty to seek a site for this purpose if so desired and there would be no difficulty in principle, and I hope that due publicity has been given to that. As to contact with my right hon. Friend, I already maintain that contact and shall continue to do so.
