HC Deb 24 June 1943 vol 390 cc1309-10
56. Mr. Graham White

asked the Home Secretary whether he is satisfied that there is adequate control over the hours of work of schoolchildren under 14 years of age employed in harvesting?

Mr. H. Morrison

The inquiries made last year showed that the prescribed hours of employment were generally observed. This year it is hoped to increase the amount of supervision so as to ensure still further the welfare of the children employed. I will send my hon. Friend a copy of a circular which has been sent by the Board of Education to the local authorities.
