HC Deb 24 June 1943 vol 390 c1319
71. Mr. Thorne

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Warfare, what answer he has returned to the petition from the Wanstead and Woodford, Essex, Farmers' Relief Committee, about sending relief to women and children in enemy-occupied countries?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Warfare (Mr. Dingle Foot)

This petition, which was addressed to my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister, was forwarded to my Department. A reply was sent on 8th June referring to the relief scheme now operating in Greece, and explaining the reasons why His Majesty's Government have felt unable to agree to any relaxation of the blockade in respect of other occupied territories.
