§ 39. Sir J. Mellorasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will give an assurance that those householders who comply with his appeal to stock coal in excess of normal allowances during the summer under licence will not, over a period of 12 months ending 31st March, 1944, be allowed less coal than they would have been allowed had they not thus stocked?
§ Mr. T. SmithYes, Sir. No one who has been licensed to do so will be penalised for stocking coal. They are only likely to get into difficulties if they disregard the purpose for which they have been authorised to acquire extra supplies and consume excessive quantities early in the coal year; and in that event their position will be exactly the same as that of any other domestic user who has not practised reasonable economy in consumption.
