HC Deb 29 July 1943 vol 391 cc1787-8
92. Mr. Riley

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the dissatisfaction prevailing in Kingston, Jamaica, regarding the high rents charged for living accommodation there; and whether he will consider setting up a rent control board for Jamaica?

Mr. Young

My right hon. and gallant Friend has received no representations on the subject, and he is asking the Governor for a report on the situation.

Mr. Riley

Will the hon. Gentleman ask the Minister to look at the Kingston newspapers, which show the tremendous discontent there is about high rents?

Mr. Young

I will convey that to my right hon. and gallant Friend.
