HC Deb 28 July 1943 vol 391 cc1576-7
62. Professor Savory

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he can state the amount of eggs and dairy products imported into Great Britain from Eire and Northern Ireland, respectively, during the years 1939, 1940, 1941 and 1942?

Mr. Mabane

It is not in the national interest to disclose in war-time figures of imports into Great Britain.

Professor Savory

Does not this silence in the public interest apply only to Eire, because all the figures for Northern Ireland are available and are given in the House of Commons in Northern Ireland? Why conceal from this House of Commons what Northern Ireland is giving to this country?
