§ 22. Mr. Bossomasked the Secretary of State for Air what steps have been taken by the Air Training Corps Council of Welfare to further welfare activities in that corps?
§ Sir A. SinclairThe Air Training Corps Central Council of Welfare advises me on welfare and amenity questions affecting Air Training Corps units in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and administers any gifts made from private sources 1559 for the benefit of the Air Training Corps other than those received locally for the benefit of individual units. A separate Council of Welfare has been set up in Scotland to look after the interests of Air Training Corps units in that country. Since its formation, the Central Council of Welfare has been energetic in collecting funds for these welfare activities which could not properly be charged to public funds. I am glad to take this opportunity of paying a tribute to the valuable work performed by the A.T.C. Central Council of Welfare and the A.T.C. Scottish Council of Welfare in furthering the interests of the Corps.
§ 23. Mr. Bossomasked the Secretary of State for Air whether a record is being kept of the work done by Air Training Corps cadets at Royal Air Force aerodromes, so that after the war the public may be informed of the great amount of work being done by cadets before they are embodied for full-time service?
§ Sir A. SinclairMuch help of a general nature is given to the Royal Air Force by cadets of the Air Training Corps during unit visits to airfields, but the maintenance of a detailed record of what they do would not be practicable, because of the administrative work which would be involved.
