§ 52. Major Yorkasked the Minister of Agriculture whether it is the intention of his Department to encourage, or to ignore, the homœopathic treatment for immunising cattle against tuberculosis, which has been brought to his notice?
Mr. HudsonI would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member far Ashford (Mr. E. P. Smith) on 3rd June, in which I said that there is no scientific evidence that homœopathic treatment has any value for immunisation against tuberculosis.
§ Major YorkIs the Minister aware that there are already over 8o dairy farmers using this treatment; and is it not, therefore, in the interests of the industry that he should look into the matter?
Mr. HudsonNo, Sir. I have said that there is no scientific evidence available so far as I am aware.
§ Major YorkIs it not that the veterinary profession would lose business by its adoption?
