HC Deb 25 February 1943 vol 387 c283
25. Mr. Oliver

asked the Home Secretary whether he will provide that a hardship committee, if satisfied of an applicant's permanent physical unfitness for fire-watching, should have power to grant a final and conclusive exemption which the holder could register in any other area instead of going through the whole procedure each time?

Mr. H. Morrison

Provision already exists by which on a single application exemption on medical grounds may be granted under all the Orders.

Mr. Oliver

Will my right hon. Friend see that the hardship committees are instructed to that effect?

Mr. Morrison

If my hon. Friend will be good enough to let me have any particulars to the contrary, I will look into them.
