HC Deb 16 February 1943 vol 386 c1581
35. Mr. Purbrick

asked the President of the Board of Trade, in view of the fact that the work of the Trading with the Enemy Department is now considerably reduced, what reduction has been made in the staff?

The President of the Board of Trade (Mr. Dalton)

The work of the Trading with the Enemy Department, for which my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer and I are jointly responsible, has declined in some sections but increased in others. The total staff on 1st September, 1942, was 192, and on 1st February, 1943, 186.
