§ 7. Mr. Bellengerasked the Secretary of State for War the amount of the ration allowance paid to officers and other ranks when proceeding on privilege leave?
§ Sir J. GriggOfficers and other ranks in the United Kingdom receive 3s. a day.
§ Mr. BellengerIn view of the fact that when officers and men go on leave no distinction is made in the ration allowance they draw in money, will the right hon. Gentleman now consider whether he can make the issue of rations which they get when they are on duty and not on leave the same, in order to avoid the distinction which is made between officers and other ranks now?
§ Sir J. GriggI should have thought that my hon. Friend would have drawn a certain assumption from the supplementary answer I gave him last time, and would have been satisfied for the time being.
§ Mr. BellengerAs I am obviously not satisfied, will the Minister give me an answer to the supplementary question I have just asked?
§ Sir J. GriggAs an interim answer, I will say that I am perfectly aware that there are anomalies in this matter, but if we had to remove all the anomalies in the world, it would take a very long time.
