HC Deb 09 February 1943 vol 386 c1161
39. Commander King-Hall

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that no compulsory powers exist for the billeting of members of the Land Army; and whether he will take steps to make such powers available to billeting officers?

Mr. Pym (Lord of the Treasury)

I have been asked to reply. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Health is prepared, where necessary, to use his powers of compulsory billeting to secure accommodation for Women's Land Army members as for other war workers. The regional organisation of the Ministry of Health is at the present time co-operating closely with war agricultural executive committees and the Women's Land Army in the counties with a view to finding the necessary accommodation for additional workers.
