HC Deb 09 February 1943 vol 386 c1144
2. Sir Robert Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the booklet on the Empire, which is forming part of the study scheme for the Army during the present winter, has now been issued to all units of the Army?

Sir J. Grigg

The distribution of this booklet to the Army at home under the Winter Education Scheme was made at the end of December.

Major Lyons

In view of the very excellent material in these and other booklets of a similar type, will my right hon. Friend consider taking off the very highly secret marking on them so that they can be discussed or distributed or shown elsewhere?

Sir J. Grigg

I have considered that, and I have decided to make no change. I think it is very desirable that this should be discussed in the Army with great freedom and without regard to its possible repercussions outside.

Major Lyons

Will books of this nature in future have no such confidential marking on them?

Sir J. Grigg

They will have the same marking on them as before.

Mr. John Dugdale

May a copy be placed in the House?

Sir J. Grigg

I will consider that.
