asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of the dissatisfaction caused among noncommissioned officers by the fact that, when one of them is wounded in action, he is reduced in rank after three days in hospital; and will he take steps to abolish this practice?

Mr. A. Henderson

My hon. Friend is mistaken. A non-commissioned officer holding paid acting rank when wounded in action is allowed to retain the rank during his period of absence from duty for up to three months.

If I send the Minister particulars of an N.C.O. who was wounded and reduced in rank after three days in hospital will he have the case investigated and, if a mistake has been made, have appropriate action taken?
