HC Deb 15 December 1943 vol 395 c1555
77. Captain Strickland

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the great number of serious foot accidents which are occurring daily in the engineering industry through the insufficient supplies of safety boots; whether he will take immediate steps to rectify this shortage; and whether he will indicate the reasons for the increase in the number of coupons from six to nine for the purchase of such boots which discourages workers from purchasing the stocks available?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Captain Waterhouse)

In answer to the first part of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which was given to my hon. Friend the Member for West Birmingham (Mr. Higgs) on 7th December, to which I have nothing further to add. No increase has been made in the number of coupons required, which is still 6.
