HC Deb 30 September 1942 vol 383 c760
34. Mr. Hannah

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether, to facilitate lorries getting through towns, he will consider allowing the police to put up temporary direction posts at important road centres that can be instantly removed if circumstances so require?

Mr. Noel-Baker

As I said in answer to my hon. Friend on nth September, the replacement of direction signs must depend upon military considerations. The subject is now being reviewed, and until the necessary decisions have been made, I regret that I cannot add to my previous reply.

Mr. Hannah

Are we not showing far too much consideration for the convenience to the invader?
