HC Deb 30 September 1942 vol 383 c776
62. Mr. Thorne

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he can give any information about the 57 summonses at Wealdstone on 15th September against Donald Hirstshaw for using 26 tons of flour to make dogs' food; and what action he intends taking about the matter?

Mr. Mabane

Donald Hirstshaw and certain other persons and firms were prosecuted at the instance of my Department at the Wealdstone Police Court on 15th September on 57 summonses under the Milled Wheaten Substances (Restriction) Order, 1940 and other Orders, in connection with the illegal disposal of flour and certain feeding stuffs. All the defendants were committed for trial to the Central Criminal Court. My hon. Friend will appreciate that it would not be proper for me to make any further statement at this stage.
