HC Deb 30 September 1942 vol 383 cc756-7
28. Mr. Snadden

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport, to state what arrangements have been made by his Department in regard to the transport of deer carcases by passenger train during the current season?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport (Mr. Noel-Baker)

Yes, Sir. It has been arranged that special vans for this traffic will be provided by the railways at selected loading stations on certain days of the week, and that the vans will be attached to passenger trains. On the day before the vans are required, the senders will tell the stationmasters at the loading points how many carcases they propose to send. The minimum load will be one ton per van. I am much obliged to my hon. Friend for drawing attention to a preventable waste of food.

Mr. Snadden

Would the Parliamentary Secretary give wide publicity to that announcement?

Mr. Noel-Baker

I will do my best, and I hope my hon. Friend will do the same.
