HC Deb 10 September 1942 vol 383 cc281-2
33. Mr. Amnion

asked the Home Secretary whether he will consider having nets placed over the emergency water tanks with a view to reducing the accident rate caused by children falling into the water?

Mr. H. Morrison

Yes, Sir, I am having an experiment made on these lines in pursuance of a suggestion made to me by my hon. Friend. I should not like to say more at the moment than that I see difficulties which may make the suggestion less valuable than it appears at first sight.

Mr. Thorne

Does the right hon. Gentleman intend to use string netting or wire netting?

Mr. Morrison

I am not quite sure what I shall use; that is not quite settled. I assure the hon. Member that I will do the best I can, but it is rather a difficult business.
