asked the President of the Board of Education, whether he will make it clear that he and his Department have no responsibility for compelling the use of leisure hours of young people who are already compelled to remain in essential industries?

Mr. Ede

The hon. Member can rest assured that no compulsion is exercised by my department upon the use made of their leisure time by young people, whatever their employment.

Mr. Mander

Does the hon. Gentleman mean that compulsory imps would be undesirable?
