HC Deb 01 October 1942 vol 383 cc902-3
13. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Minister of Labour whether any decision has been reached regarding the amendment of the Fair Wages Resolution?

Mr. Bevin

Yes, Sir. The draft of a new Fair Wages Resolution has been prepared in consultation with the British Employers' Confederation and the Trades Union Congress General Council. It is proposed to issue at a nearly date a White Paper giving the text of the draft Resolution and explaining the Government's intention with regard to its introduction.

Mr. Rhys Davies

Will that be brought before Parliament and subject to any amendment that may be proposed to it?

Mr. Bevin

It will be open to Parliament at the appropriate time to adopt the Resolution or otherwise.

Mr. Thorne

If the matter is brought before the House of Commons and some alteration is made, will it not really have to go back to the other bodies?
