§ 67. Mr. Hannahasked the Home Secretary whether he realises that the report and control staff in the case of non-scheme making authorities are not allowed uniforms; that this, in the case of nightwork, is extremely uncomfortable and hard on clothing, especially for girls; and will he have uniforms provided?
§ Mr. H. MorrisonThe provision of uniform for Civil Defence personnel is at the discretion of the individual local authority. The authorized uniform for persons serving in Report and Control Centres is a cotton overall with beret and great coat. In view of the nature of the work and the very difficult supply position, I do not feel justified in authorizing the supply of serge uniforms.
