HC Deb 19 November 1942 vol 385 cc483-4
23. Dr. Edith Summerskill

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that mere is a shortage of skilled workers for the milk pasteurisation plants; and, in the interests of public health, whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Mr. Bevin

I am not aware of any serious shortage of skilled workers for milk pasteurisation plants.

Dr. Summerskill

Has my right hon. Friend had representations from the dairy industry on this subject?

Mr. Bevin

No, the representations would come to me from my Noble Friend the Minister of Food; I have had none.

Commander Locker-Lampson

Is it still true that you can sell infected milk without punishment, but not infected water?

Mr. Bevin

That is another question.
