46. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Prime Minister whether he can now make any statement respecting the chaining of prisoners?

47. Mr. W. Brown

asked the Prime Minister whether he is now in a position to make a further statement on the subject of the chaining of prisoners?

Mr. Attlee

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister is not yet in a position to make a further statement.

Commander Locker-Lampson

Is it not better to spend money on bombs than chains?

Mr. Sorensen

Can the right hon. Gentleman given any approximate time when such a Question might be addressed to him or to his right hon. Friend the Prime Minister again, as it is a very serious matter indeed?

Mr. Attlee

My hon. Friend may put the Question down for the first of the next series of Sitting Days. I cannot guarantee anything further, but I think he might put the Question down then.

Viscountess Astor

Will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind the extraordinary feeling there is in this country about the mistake the Government are making?
