HC Deb 20 May 1942 vol 380 c236
58. Mr. Mack

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that hundreds of lorry wings, costing over £5 a pair, are dumped in the immediate vicinity of a well-known firm; and, as this dump of valuable material is visible to workers of other factories in this area and tends to discourage efficiency and enthusiasm needed to increase production, whether he will put an end to this system?

Sir A. Duncan

The firm in question are under contract to fit to frames a number of lorry bodies originally intended for France. Eighty-five of the bodies had rear wings which are unsuitable for the present frames. These wings are being temporarily stored in the open to avoid taking up production space and will be removed when the contract is completed at an early date. The wings cost less than 30s. a pair new.
