§ 25. Mr. J. Griffithsasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the widespread feeling that the stabilisation of the prices of furniture at the price level operating to-day maintains prices at an unreasonably high level in relation to cost; and what steps he proposes to take to reduce these prices?
§ Mr. DaltonAs I informed my hon. Friend the Member for Sedgefield (Mr. Leslie) on 5th May, the Furniture (Maximum Prices) Order, 1942, is only an interim measure, and I have asked the Central Price Regulation Committee to make further recommendations on this subject.
§ Mr. GriffithsCan my right hon. Friend indicate how soon he expects to receive that?
§ Mr. DaltonI hope very soon. The Committee are taking an active interest in the matter, and I am very indebted to them for it.
