HC Deb 19 May 1942 vol 380 c28
50. Mr. Hannah

asked the Paymaster-General whether the Government have any plans for so arranging the eventual demobilisation of our Armed Forces as first to release men most urgently needed by industry, especially in regard to exports?

The Paymaster-General (Sir William Jowitt)

As I informed my hon. Friend the Member for Colne Valley (Mr. Glenvil Hall) on 30th April, an Interdepartmental Committee is considering the machinery necessary to secure that release from the Forces is effected according to an orderly system of priorities. Very careful attention will be paid to the needs of industry and the export trade.
