§ 54. Mr. Garro Jonesasked the Minister of Production what raw materials, in addition to paper and timber, are, so far as old stocks are held, not controlled at all or only partially controlled; and whether he can give in each case an estimate of the quantity of each such raw material outside the full control?
§ Major Sir James Edmondson (Treasurer of the Household)I have been asked to reply. Complete control of all old stocks, particularly those in consumers' hands, has not been taken for any raw materials. For some materials, however, no use of 1994 the stock may be made without licence; for others new supplies are withheld until the stocks are used. No estimate can be given of the quantity of these stocks obtained before control but it is quite small and the stocks are held in very many hands.
