HC Deb 25 March 1942 vol 378 c1999
72. Mr. Riley

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether native Africans, compulsorily conscripted for military service in our African Colonies, will receive the same pay and allowances for their families as white British subjects conscripted in the same Colonies for similar service; and whether he can have a copy of the Regulations giving the pay and allowances placed in the Library of the House?

The Financial Secretary to the War Office (Mr. Sandys)

I have been asked to reply. The Answer to the first part of the Question is in the negative. I will send my hon. Friend particulars of the rates of pay of native troops, which vary in the different Colonies.
