§ 35. Mr. Brookeasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that in many post offices one girl at a small portion of the counter has to deal with queues of people waiting for pensions or allowances, savings certificates or savings bank business, at times when the rest of the staff have relatively few customers to attend to; and whether he will arrange for a better allocation of staff and counter space in harmony with the greatly increased proportion of this type of business?
§ Mr. W. S. MorrisonEndeavour is made to allocate the staff according to the amount of each type of business done at each office. It is impossible, however, to prevent occasional accumulations of business at certain points, owing to its uneven incidence. If the hon. Member 1985 has any particular office in mind and he will furnish me with particulars, I will gladly have inquiry made.
