HC Deb 18 March 1942 vol 378 cc1515-6
60. Major Milner

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the large posters still being used for advertising goods which are either rationed or unobtainable, thus using paper, flour for paste, transport and labour; and whether he proposes to allow this waste to continue?

Sir A. Duncan

The exhibition of any poster relating to the sale of goods is prohibited, unless the poster was printed before 12th November, 1941, or, subject to certain conditions, is printed on the back of an unused poster which was in stock before 12th November, 1941.

Major Milner

Does that mean that in future no posters printed after that date will be allowed to be used?

Major Lyons

Will that ban operate against all advertisements, including those for the War Savings Campaign?

Sir A. Duncan

No, this is in respect of goods.
