HC Deb 12 March 1942 vol 378 c1190
39. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that while many hospitals are under-staffed at the present time others are sometimes overstaffed; and whether he will prepare a scheme by which nurses in military or other hospitals who are temporarily surplus to requirement could be loaned for services in hospitals where extra nursing service is needed?

Mr. E. Brown

I have already drawn the attention of hospital authorities to the desirability of arranging for the transfer of nurses to hospitals which may be understaffed, and my Regional Officers are making every effort to maintain a proper distribution.

Mr. Sorensen

Is it beyond the right hon. Gentleman's competence to arrange for a release?
