HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 cc644-5
52. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Supply why the attempts of Messrs. Brown's Tyre Service, Limited, to instal modern plant for repairing rubber footwear have been systematically discouraged by his Department; and whether this policy will now be changed?

Sir A. Duncan

I have not yet had time to make full inquiries into this case. I will write to my hon. Friend as soon as these are completed.

Mr. Parker

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that many rubber manufacturers have done their best to discourage the repair of rubber shoes so that they can sell new ones?

Sir A. Duncan

This Question appeared on the Order Paper only yesterday, and I have not yet had time to get full particulars. I will, however, write to the hon. Gentleman.
