HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 cc642-3
47. Mr. Ridley

asked the Prime Minister what arrangements are being made for carrying on the work in connection with post-war reconstruction formerly entrusted to the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Wakefield (Mr. Greenwood).

Mr. Attlee

Perhaps my hon. Friend will be good enough to await the announcement which will be made in due course.

Mr. Ridley

Is my right hon. Friend aware that the matter dealt with in the Question is one of great concern to many Members of this House, and will he realise the need for taking the earliest possible opportunity of making a statement which will allay anxiety?

Mr. Attlee

The Prime Minister is very fully aware of the desire for a statement, and I can assure my hon. Friend that it will be made very soon.

Mr. Ridley

May I press my right hon. Friend to say exactly what he means by "very soon"?

Mr. Attlee

I do not think I can define "very soon" more than that.
