HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 cc633-4
34. Mr. Riley

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the recently revised constitution for Jamaica has yet been considered by the Jamaican National Assembly; and whether it has been accepted or amended?

Mr. Harold Macmillan

No, Sir, but the Governor has been authorised to communicate to the Legislative Council the contents of Lord Moyne's despatch of 5th January, copies of which, as already stated, have been placed in the Library of the House.

Mr. Riley

Is it possible for the National Assembly to make any amendments of the revised constitution?

Mr. Macmillan

No, Sir.
