Mr. Neil Macleanasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that in an aircraft factory, the location of which has been made known to him, several coaches and a number of other motor vehicles were used for the purpose of rehearsing and producing a propaganda play for the Oxford Group; that the mileage covered by those vehicles 7 was 528 and that 48 gallons of petrol were used; whether any of his officers gave permission for this use of petrol and vehicles; and what action he proposes to take against those responsible?

§ Mr. GallacherIs the Minister aware that very serious allegations have been made against the leaders of this organisation and against the organisation itself, and will he make any inquiries as to whether they have any connection with Nazi propaganda?
Major Lloyd GeorgeIf my hon. Friend he will look at the answer, he will see that I am making investigations.
§ Mr. MathersWill he take into account that this play provided not merely very good entertainment but was also calculated to help considerably the cause of increased production?
Major Lloyd GeorgeThat is not the purpose of my investigation. Obviously it would be improper for me to express an opinion on that. The purpose of my investigation is to find out whether certain fuel was properly consumed or not.
§ Mr. MacleanIs it not the case that practically two-thirds of the spectators at this particular play were not employed in the factory at all, and therefore the play had no effect on production?
