HC Deb 30 June 1942 vol 381 c35
65. Mr. David Adams

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of recent enemy action in the Carribbean, it is now intended to establish in Jamaica adequate Civil Defence and air-raid shelter schemes?

The Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Harold Macmillan)

A number of Civil Defence measures have already been instituted in Jamaica, and my Noble Friend is already in touch with the Governor with a view to making good any deficiencies as rapidly as possible.

Mr. Adams

Is the Minister aware of the very strong demands, both at public meetings and in the Press, for a proper system of air-raid protection?
