§ 15. Captain P. Macdonald
asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the substantial number of American troops who have arrived in the British Isles, he will consider the desirability of arranging for an official welcome to be given in London to a detachment of these troops?
§ Sir J. Grigg
United States troops have been arriving in the British Isles in considerable numbers since early this year. The first contingent was officially welcomed at the port of arrival by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Air on behalf of His Majesty's Government.
§ Captain Macdonald
Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the people of London and the Home Counties would be very glad to give an official reception to our American Allies?
§ Mr. Shinwell
Will my right hon. Friend appreciate that while we all welcome the presence of American troops in this country, we are getting a little bit tired of all this circus business?
