HC Deb 23 June 1942 vol 380 cc1795-6
18. Captain Cobb

asked the Secretary of State for War when he expects to be in a position to announce the Government's decision, in respect of the continuation after 31st July, of payments of allowances to the dependants of men reported missing in Malaya?

Sir J. Grigg

I am not yet in a position to make any further statement.

Captain Cobb

In view of the anxiety which these dependants feel about the continuation of these allowances, will my right hon. Friend try to make an announcement as soon as he possibly can?

Sir J. Grigg

Yes, Sir. I am well aware of the natural anxiety of the relatives, and I can assure my hon. and gallant Friend that I will make a statement well before the expiry of the present period.

Mr. Hannah

Have the Government any information as to what has happened to Bushido?
