asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what, at any recent suitable date, was the total roll of Scotish schoolchildren in secondary schools and all other schools, excluding nursery schools, respectively; and how many in each of these two classes were receiving whole-time schooling?

On 14th March, 1942, in the schools under the management of education authorities in Scotland, there were 160,607 children on the rolls of secondary schools and departments and 577,024 on the rolls of other schools, excluding nursery schools. The numbers receiving full-time education were 158,803 and 529,124 respectively.
