10. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for India whether routine police visits are regularly made to the offices of the Indian National Congress and to the offices of other Indian political parties; whether the duplicators removed from the Allahabad office have now been returned; and what was the purpose of removing them?

Mr. Boulton

So far as my right hon. Friend is aware, the answer to the first part of the Question is in the negative. He has received no further information regarding the incident at Allahabad and is not in a position to answer the remainder of the Question.

Will the hon. Gentleman communicate to the Secretary of State that information on this point would be highly appreciated? Can he state exactly what is meant by "routine visits," as announced last week, and why the duplicators were removed? It is quite unnecessary.
