HC Deb 10 June 1942 vol 380 cc1059-60
59. Mr. George Griffiths

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the charges for boarding made at the camp schools are borne by the local education authorities and so fall on the ratepayers?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education (Mr. Ede)

The boarding charges at the National Camp Schools are met in the first instance by the local education authority and subse quently reclaimed by them from the Ministry of Health through the Evacuation Account. No part of these charges falls on the local ratepayers.
