HC Deb 04 June 1942 vol 380 c815
71. Mr. Thorne

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he can give any information in connection with the Osgodby pioneer village in Lincolnshire communal jam making drive refusing to make any more jam this season; whether he is aware that the women's institute state that they have a large quantity of last year's jam on their hands; and what action he intends taking about the matter?

Major Lloyd George

My Department has not been informed of the Osgodby Centre's refusal to take part in this year's preservation scheme nor of the fact that jam still remains unsold at the centre. On confirmation that jam is still outstanding from last season, arrangements will be made forthwith by my Department for its collection. It is for the National Federation of Women's Institutes to consider the refusal of Osgodby Centre to make jam this season.
