Major-General Sir Alfred Knoxasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Buildings whether, in deciding upon any scheme of reconstruction of the Palace of Westminster, he will take into consideration the lack of accommodation for Members of the Commons, both in the former Chamber and in the Library and Smoking Rooms, and the total absence of rooms for interviewing visitors; and whether he will consider the possibility of obtaining permission for the Commons to continue to use the Chamber at present occupied and make use of the site of the Commons' former Chamber to provide the additional accommodation required?
