HC Deb 07 July 1942 vol 381 cc628-9
28. Mr. Storey

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that 12, Cliffe Park, Sunderland, was requisitioned by the War Department, left empty and, in consequence, suffered severe damage by fire and was rendered uninhabitable; that the house was then de-requisitioned and compensation, until such time as a licence can be obtained for the house to be repaired, refused to the owner; and whether he will take steps to reverse this decision?

Sir J. Grigg

I am inquiring into the circumstances of this case and will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as possible.

Mr. Storey

Will the right hon. Gentleman also inquire into the facts of other similar cases?

Sir J. Grigg

That is involved in my promise.
