asked the Home Secretary the number of retired members of the police forces in Britain who are receiving pensions from State funds?

The only figures which I can give relate to persons in receipt of pensions under the Police Pensions Acts, and the latest available are for 31st March, 1940, as respects England and Wales and 15th May, 1940, as respects Scotland. Those figures were 38,134 and 2,502 respectively.
