HC Deb 02 July 1942 vol 381 c482
12. Mr. Lipson

asked the Minister of Labour what steps he is taking to make good the shortage of chimney sweeps with its consequent danger to public security during the black-out from chimney fires?

Mr. Bevin

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to the hon. Member for West Leyton (Mr. Sorensen), on 26th March, 1942, by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Home Security, to which I have nothing to add.

Mr. Lipson

Would the Minister say at what age chimney sweeps are reserved?

Mr. Bevin

I really cannot remember.

Mr. Thorne

Can my right hon. Friend remember when little boys used to sweep the chimneys?
