HC Deb 01 July 1942 vol 381 c193
21. Miss Ward

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what steps he is taking for the provision of dive-bombers?

Mr. Alexander

The naval torpedo aircraft at present in service can be used for dive-bombing. New and improved types will also be able to exploit this form of attack.

Major C. S. Taylor

Is it not a fact that all aircraft for the Fleet Air Arm have to be ordered through the Air Ministry? Is not this undesirable? Should not the Navy now be in a position to order its own aircraft?

Mr. Alexander

I do not think that arises out of this Question; but, as a matter of fact, we, like the Air Ministry, are customers of the Ministry of Aircraft Production.
