HC Deb 01 July 1942 vol 381 cc210-1
56. Sir L. Lyle

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he can give any estimate of the reduction in the consumption of bread in this country since the introduction of the wholemeal loaf?

Mr. Mabane

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for East Aberdeen (Flight-Lieutenant Booth-by) on 16th June last, to which, at the moment, I can add nothing.

Sir L. Lyle

Is my right hon. Friend aware that he gave me that reply some time ago, when I asked the same Question, and that it really does not answer the Question?

Mr. Mabane

On that occasion I referred my right hon. Friend to another reply give to another hon. Member.

Sir R. Lyle

But that reply did not answer the Question. Why not give the answer to me directly?
