HC Deb 29 January 1942 vol 377 c923
62. Sir P. Hurd

asked the Minister of Health how many rural areas in England and Wales now have water-pipe systems; and what has been the capital expenditure of rural district councils under the £1,000,000 grant scheme of the Treasury?

Mr. E. Brown

The number of parishes in England and Wales with a piped water supply is over 7,800; the £1,000,000 grant produced schemes costing approximately £7,500,000, towards which contributions were also made by the county councils.
